I Went To ProBlogger Training Day. But Maybe It Was Just A Dream.
Did my amazing short trip to Melbourne for ProBlogger Training Event really happen?
It’s Sunday night and I’m wondering, WOW, was that weekend real?
Being a new mum, getting in the car on my own is a big deal. Let alone, going to Melbourne for the premier ProBlogger Training Event.
What did I learn from this ProBlogger Training Day?
You know what, it was definitely the importance of meeting people face-to-face and spending time with the bloggers who have had a big influence on me.
It has to be, right?
I mean, if you can follow Live Tweets, read blog posts afterwards, attend a webinar…
Why make the effort to actually go somewhere, when you can learn the same stuff from home?
The answer is, because:
Twitter cannot replace shaking hands to express your deepest gratitude.
StumbleUpon cannot replace the serendipitous discovery of a 100 year old tea room, where you end up having brunch with a blogger who has helped to change your life.
YouTube will never allow you to truly feel the beauty and energy, when in the physical presence of that writer whose charm far exceeds her PageView numbers.
When you’re crap at remembering to take photos, this is the kind of dodgy shot you end up with, from ProBlogger Training Day!
Going to something like this, I realise:
Why Caz, Craig and I can stay up for hours, talking all things blogging strategy and sponsorships for y Travel Blog and Mojito Mother NO MATTER how much sleep we lose!
The incredible depth and strength to Kristin. Her superb writing skills demonstrated at Wanderlust only really give you a window into how amazing she is.
The eternal power of Mother’s Love and what drives Lisa Wood to keep creating New Life On The Road into her inspiring life story.
How deeply HUMBLE Darren Rowse is and why I will sing that guy’s praises without hesitation as the one and only ProBlogger.
How freaking SMART Annabel Candy is and why that chick deserves all the success that will continue to come from Successful Blogging and Get In The Hot Spot.
And have you seen in the flesh, how BEAUTIFUL Nikki from Styling You is?
How sweet Cath Connell from Leaf is?
How friendly Kelly Exeter is?
What a ball of sunshine Kirsty Mummy To Five is?
How approachable Laney from Crash Test Mummy is?
How authentically hilarious Mrs Woog is?
How seriously HOT Eden Riley is?
How helpful Trevor Young is?
How unbelievably organised and spreadsheet obsessed Planning Queen is?
What a presence SawHole has?
If you haven’t experienced these people in the flesh, I hope you get the opportunity some time.
So, no blogging productivity tips or how to make money from e-books, from me.
Just a really nice feeling this Sunday evening – about to reward myself with a glass of wine with hubby -
And SOOOO grateful my every-blogger’s-dream sponsors at How To Buy A House and Selling A House made ProBlogger Training Day possible for me.
Did you go? How was it for you, either attending in person, or following it online?
By the way, I’m sharing this post as part of a Group Writing Project about “Dream”. Check out the other bloggers participating in this:

Hello Lina,
Oh wow – you must have meet half of the room
How amazing!! I love how you connected with everyone in person, and got to meet face 2 face instead of online.
There sure is something about the personal touch aspect
Hey that is so not a daggy photo of you – that is a photo of you being happy, and shopping!
Cheers
Lisa
LOL, I made that photo small on purpose so no one could see my post #pbevent mess!
I know, I’m so happy I got to say Hi to so many of these amazing people.
And OF COURSE, YOU!
Lina xx
What a Dream weekend at ProBlogger Training Event would have been maybe, I will be able to get to the next one
I think you’d really enjoy it, Rita.
Touched. Thank you.
Pleasure, Cath
.
Lovely to see you again Lina – sorry it was so brief. Great wrap up!
You too, Nic. Great job organising
You sweet lady … I can’t believe I never got the chance to have a seriously big chat with you and Caz. Next time next time (because there is ALWAYS a next time!)
hi Lina , so true about face to face meetings. I have had the pleasure of meeting a few the above mentioned bloggers and I totally agree.
Wonderful, Trish.
.
I heard you were at Nuffnang Blogopolis too…
Maybe we’ll cross paths at #DPCON12?
Thanks for stopping by
So great hanging out with you Lina during the event and over dinner!!
I’m sure it was many people’s dream to meet you on the day- always so positive and encouraging to everyone
Savannah was the biggest hit of the whole day! Soooo flexible and supportive of Mummy & Daddy!
So good to hang out with you and Craig again. Not many people’s company can keep me going late these days (as the party pooper that I am!).
So, testament to you guys, that you kept me going after I was so wrecked!
Lina
This was a great reminder Lina of how exciting it is to actually hang out in person with the people who “get it”, the ones who love what you love, who understand your passion and support you in it! The online world is like no other and our own families sometimes can’t understand why we do what we do, so to bask in the energy of others at real life events is such a thrill! A dream… just like you said.
My dream has lead me to meet in person those I met while living on the other side of the world. It has also created the space in which to have almost out of body experiences, which I wrote about here as a part of this group project about Dreams: http://debbieducic.com/2011/when-the-dream-comes-alive-what-is-the-message/
Love your work!
Deb
Yes, yes, yes – to everything you said, Debbie!
Your post for the Dream Writing Project is amazing!
Lina
Thank you Lina! This is the first time I have participated in a joint blog and love it! Got to meet some amazingly GutZy Women like you! ;D
Sounds like it was an amazing weekend. I would have loved to have been there. I will put it on my dream list.
It was a lot of fun, Kama. Thank you for being a part of the Dream Writing Project!
Oooooo. Jealous! And yes, there are some awesome bloggers out there in the Aussie blogosphere. You know, and beyond.
Thanks, Melissa! And thank you so much for being a part of the Dream Writing Project.
Oh you are too lovely … and is that a shopping bag I see? What did you buy? X
Couldn’t hide the shopping bag from StylingYou!
.
I ended up getting a smart/professional outfit for a corporate Sydney look from David Lawrence.
Never shopped there before, but I saw something I couldn’t resist for a meeting with PR firm on Tuesday
Even did a bit of colour blocking, influenced by something I read on your blog!
Sounds just perfect!
So glad you had a wonderful time at the probloggers training day. I know how you feel that things can happen in such a whir that you wonder if you were really there or was it a dream. I would love to meet up with you one day as well.
Gosh, I only just realised we haven’t met in person yet! I feel like I know you so well, Jackie! Are you sure we haven’t met?
I know right. I actually talk to you and my online friends more then I do my actual “in the flesh” friends. Love connecting with you all.
So glad you had fun! Nothing beats seeing the people we connect with so deeply in the flesh. Hope to see you again at the next one x
Thanks, G! Yes… It helps when you have a mini emotional meltdown and send crazy emails to other bloggers – If you’ve met in person, it’s good they know you’re not AS crazy as you may seem at times online…
Hi Lina,
Oh I could stay up all night rabbiting on about blogging too – one of my fave topics;) Loved meeting you there and applauding those wonderful sponsors of yours – they know a good thing when they see it! x A
Awww, thanks Annabel! So great to have finally met in person!
Hi Lina,
Love your PB Event wrap up.
I was there too though unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to meet.
Maybe we will at the next blogging event
Steph.
Hi Steph. Yes, it would be nice to meet you in person some time. Maybe #DPCON12?
.
Thanks for stopping
So sorry I missed it, but sounds like you had an awesome time! And you forget to include how wonderful YOU are!
Awww, thanks Bronnie!
What happened? You had an outfit and everything for ProBlogger Training Day!
Hi Lina,
Thanks for bringing the ProBlogger meet to life so beautifully. You’re right a post about all you learnt (and I’m sure there was plenty) would not connect me to the people you met and that is what makes any big event so memorable!
I look forward to one day meeting you, either here in Australia of perhaps one day in Italia…
here’s to Dreaming Big
ciao Lisa (a fellow project blogger)
Your work sounds sooo interesting, Lisa!
Would love to hear more and connect with you more.
I’m glad you enjoyed my post about ProBlogger Training Day.
I loved this event. I seriously met close to 50 people, most of them for the first time! I’m so pleased we got the chance to chat. I can’t wait until the next opportunity to meet even more bloggers!
thanks Lina, I’ve been enjoying meeting everyone on the group project “Dream” and reading all the posts….each one is so different.
ciao and wonderful to connect with you
lisa
Lina, it is always, always such a pleasure to see you. You’re beautiful. AND hot. XX
It’s always so brief (and slightly weird, being so brief) at these things…
Wish I could restrain you and force you to have lunch with me some time
(Would that be illegal?)
You are one smokin’ HOT red head!
You are so gorgeous! Just touched down in LA (sob). Thank you for being my puke partner and such a lovely friend. xo
That is the best compliment of the day – Being crowned the Wanderlust Puke Partner!
I really really hope you had a good time here, Kristin. Maybe not what you expected, but life has a funny way of giving us the lessons we need, just perfectly.
Lina xx
You are just an absolute treat! x
SAO’s and cash! Thanks, MrsW xx
Hey. I remember meeting you briefly in that incredibly loud and hot room. I had way to much to drink and not nearly enough to eat. I remember the thing you were wearing in your hair was really pretty too.
I agree with your post, it’s great to meet people in person. I’m still better at the virtual meeting though.
Hi Toushka!
Yes, I remember saying Hi to you too. So brief, but still great to see you in person!
